One of the most colorful species in its genus, and to many hobbyists, this is one of the most colorful tarantulas available in the trade.

RANGE: India
HABITAT: Savanna
TYPE: Obligate burrower
COLOR/PATTERN/APPEARANCE: Yellowish-brown carapace and legs with black femurs and an orangish-brown abdomen with black "tiger" chevron markings that develops in large juveniles and the adults keep.
MAXIMUM SIZE: 6"
TEMPERATURE: 75F to 85F day with drops no lower than 60F at night.
HUMIDITY: 60%-70%
TANK SETUP: Adults can be housed in vertically orientated tanks of 5 to 10 gallon capacity with 6"-8" deep "Cocosoft" substrate or peat moss, shallow and wide water dish. Cork bark or resin plastic shelter.
FEEDING REQUIREMENTS: Babies/juvs twice a week small cricket (1-2). Sub-adults/adults once a week medium to large cricket (2-3), roaches (1-2) or pinkie mouse or rat pup.
WATER REQUIREMENTS: Mist tank 1-2 times a week with fine water mist to keep humidity around 80%. Change water dish whenever fouled or at least 1-2 times a week.
DISPOSITION: Very aggressive. Do not free handle. It will go into threat display and bite if disturbed very quickly.
VENOM EFFECTS: Unknown. Assumed to be medically insignificant though like most tarantulas, BUT little is known about this genus
GROWTH RATE: Fast. Males mature in 1.5 yrs. Females in 2.5-3 yrs.
LONGEVITY: 12 to 18 yrs. in females and 3 to 4 yrs. in males.
BREEDING REMARKS: Not reported.
NUMBER OF EGGS: Assumed around 200-400
