Avicularia versicolor "Antilles Pinktoe", A hobby “classic”. One of the all-time favorites of many hobbyists and definitely one of the most colorful species of the world. 4 Chilobrachys sp. "Indian Metallic Red", Extremely rare! 1st-time import of CB, legal spiderlings just before Xmas '07. The description give so far: Overall, a black spider with long, red hairs on the legs and abdomen, femurs are black and the palps have a beautiful metallic red coloration on the tips. 3 Pamphobeteus sp. "platyomma" (NW Ecuadorian Giant Pink Birdeater" (Sold in error by many as Pamphobeteus platyomma or even worse, Vitalius platyomma “Brazilian Pink”. It is not either. It is an undescribed species in the Pamphobeteus genus.) Rare! This species is from Ecuador, not Brazil. Spiderlings have orange abdomens with black Xmas tree patterns. Chestnut brown overall with pinkish-red highlights, males mature out “cobalt pink” and females can be very stocky/heavy-bodied and grow to 9” legspans. They have been found on Parrot mountain in NW Ecuador on the way to the border with Colombia. Of all the Pamphobeteus spp. made available to our hobby, it is the most readily available. It has proven to be a very hardy spider in captivity as well. Spiderlings and juveniles have reddish-orange abdomens with a black "Xmas" tree pattern. They lose that around 3". Aggressive and a hair-flicker, they are not for minor or beginners. Captive-born females tend to calm down after a few years. 1st stage nymphs as of 1/10/08. Expect these to be 1st instar 3/4"+ spiderlings and ready to ship late March. Taking preorders now. CB'08 3/4", $25

Pamphobeteus vespertinus "Red Bloom" - CB spiderlings will be arriving middle of April 2008. 1/2"-3/4" for $189 each. From what I've seen in photos, it's a chocolate-colored, velvet-looking species. This species has been collected from Halmahera island (also Jilolo or Gilolo) which is the largest island in the Maluku Islands. It is part of the North Maluku province of Indonesia. This species "might" prove the be the real S. lanipes, but that is still unconfirmed as of 12/07. CB 1/2", $22

45+ Grammostola sp. "Red Concepcion" !!!, Very RARE! This species was first exported from Chile under the name Grammostola sp. "Red Concepcion" in 2006. Only a handful of adults arrived in the U.S. hobby during 2006-2007. It is expected that we will see more of these exported in 2008. It is a beautiful species found in southern Chile in the Concepcion III region. It looks similar to the G. rosea "Red Rose Hair" of central Chile, but the lower legs have lots of white hairs. It is a hardy, docile and long-lived species. It grows to a 6" legspan, but old adult females can be quite robust in overall girth. This species might prove to be the real G. cala. Sub-adult/adult FEMALES, 3.5"-4 3/4", $39 (pre-order as this great species is arriving in a 50 lot in July and they sell out quickly!)

Beautiful species with greenish-gray carapace, grayish-white legs with black spines and some dark leg bands on the lower legs. Beautiful chevron markings on the abdomen. Has wide, white bands on the sides of the carapace. Anterior region is raised higher than the rest of it’s carpace. Found on tree trunks spring to autumn.
